Since the launch of the first Bulletin in 1952 a number of advertisements for fountain pens, dip pens and other writing equipment have appeared in the Society’s publications. Here’s just a small selection.
In the 1950s and 60s the pen companies vied with each other to produce a popular Italic fountain pen with a number of models available at a variety of prices. Many calligrapher’s were employed to endorse these products and of particular note is Tom Gourdie’s finely written publicity letter for Esterbrook (he later had a hand in designing pens for Schaeffer of which he was particularly proud).
